Eric D. Pugh, DVM – Dr. Pugh was born and raised in Stark County. He attended Louisville High School and then Ohio State University. He graduated with a B.S in Agriculture in 1993 and then enrolled in Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He met his wife Cathy at OSU and they founded Hometown Veterinary Services, Inc. in the fall of 1997. He has greatly enjoyed practicing in his home town the past sixteen years. He and his wife have three daughters and a son ranging from high school to college. He enjoys his four dogs and two cats as well as caring for their horses and livestock. In his spare time Dr. Pugh enjoys attending his children’s activities/events and managing his farming operation.
Dr. Dittoe is a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. James was a partner in a mixed animal practice in Wooster, Ohio for a number of years. Dr. Pugh served a internship under Dr. Dittoe prior to graduation from OSU while he was in Wooster. He has been serving the area as a companion animal relief veterinarian for the past number of years. Dr. Dittoe enjoys boating, water skiing, church, family and the Buckeyes!
Dr. Alison graduated in 2009 from The Ohio State University and is a rabid sports fan, especially anything concerning the Buckeyes or Browns. She met her boyfriend, Bogdan, at Ohio State and moved to Canton, Ohio with him, after graduating from vet school. Dr. Alison shares her home with her four cats, Olive Fat Cat Bigglesworth, Eleanor Rigby (aka Fashion Cat), Big Daddy Norton (aka Steve Holt!), and Ezekiel Elliott. Dr. Alison is very excited to be joining our Hometown Family and looks forward to bringing new enthusiasm to our practice with a special interest in our feline patients.
Our technicians assist our veterinarians on a daily basis in exam rooms, technician appointments, and during surgery. When they are not assisting the doctors they are taking care of patients and answering phone calls and clients questions.
Erica has been with Hometown Veterinary Services since 2001. She is the head technician, with duties that include assisting with surgery’s, performing dental procedures, helping the Dr.’s in appointments, running various tests like bloodwork, xrays, and cytologies as well as patient education. She’s also the one that the other technical staff come to for guidance. She has 2 dogs, Cami – a cane corse, and Wiggles- a Boston Terrier, and 3 cats- Persia, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Pinkerton, and a uromastyx named Debo. She lives in Louisville with her husband Chris. She enjoys working out/ running, reading and watching movies in her spare time.
Jennifer has been with Hometown Veterinary Services since February 2010. She attended Stautzenberger College for Veterinary Technology and acquired an associates degree in applied sciences. Jennifer is excellent at offering guidance and engaging in client education. She understands that our pets are fuzzy family and strives to keep that bond strong and healthy. Jennifer’s love for animals started at a young age and paved her career path. She has a large fur family herself which is comprised of three dogs, Mowgil, a Boston Terrier, two Papillions, Louis and Callee, and two kitties, Alphonese Elric and Benedict Cumberbatch. Jennifer is a big art and yoga enthusiast. She enjoys painting and drawing with different mediums in her free time, and she is a certified 200 hour yoga instructor at a local studio.
Emily came to Hometown Veterinary Services in 2012 with 12 years experience. She is furthering her education and working on obtaining her Veterinary Technician degree. In addition to working at Hometown Veterinary Services, Emily has a small hobby farm with a mixture of dairy goats, Muscovy ducks, chickens, cats and dogs. Emily enjoys fishing during free time. Here at Hometown Veterinary Services Emily works very hard to maintain the inventory and making sure we always have the right products in stock for your family members. Emily is also our main opening staff for surgery appointments during the week.
Katie joined the Hometown team in March of 2016. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice but is especially interested in Radiology and Ultrasonography. Katie attended Kent State and majored in veterinary technology and obtained an associates degree in applied sciences. She has been in the veterinary field since 2009. Growing up on a beef cattle farm, Katie has always had a love for animals of all sizes. She was very active in 4H for 9 years and showed steer, dairy beef feeders, lambs, goats, hogs, horses, and several still projects. Katie now lives in Minerva and has a female Pit Nora, a livestock guardian named Bentley who is a great Pyrenees, and 3 cats. She enjoyed raising dairy goats and chickens and has a pain horse named Savanna.
Alex has been with Hometown since March 2016. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2013. In her free time, Alex enjoys spending time with her Corgi, Spud, and her 3 cats, Algeron, Cinch and Hooey. Alex also owns 3 horses, Memphis, Glue, and Frost. She also competes in rodeos in her free time.
Abigail is a veterinarian assistant at Hometown and has been here since April of 2016. She will be graduating in 2018 with an associates degree in Applied Science, majoring in Veterinary Technology from Kent State. Abigail grew up around surrounded by animals and is continued to be surrounded with 4 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 turtles. In her spare time she enjoys doing pyrography art, going to the lake, and spending time with her family.
Becky joined the Hometown team in February 2017. She has worked in the veterinary field for 12 years and lives in Perry township. She has two children, two dogs, Mr. Crackers and Vader and a cat, Cheeto. Becky’s daughter plays travel softball and spends most of her weekends at tournaments. Becky enjoys working out and outdoor activities. She also works part-time at her local YMCA.
Debbi has been at Hometown since March 2017. She has been in the veterinary field for 17 years. She attended Cuyahoga Community College for her Veterinary Technician License. She has been a Registered Technician since May 2005. Debbi grew up on a dairy farm and has always had a love for animals. She also enjoyed working with harness racing horses in the past. She currently lives in Navarre with her husband, two pit bulls Jagger and Skyler, and cat Tequila. She loves spending time outside exercising, boating, baking, and spending time with friends and family during her free time.
Traci has worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years. She currently joined our team in July. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her 2 children and doing family activities including camping, horseback riding, and bike riding.
Gari is a certified veterinary assistant who joined the Hometown Veterinary Services team in July, 2017. She came to Hometown with over 17 years of veterinary experience. Gari enjoys interacting with clients and their special patients. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle and with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren.
Our support staff is made up of several dedicated employees who not only greet clients and answer the busy phone but they are also busy scheduling appointments, spending to emails, answering questions, and keeping the office nice and clean each day.
Kailey joined Hometown in the fall of 2009 part-time, and was then hired full-time as our clinic’s Office Manager in the spring of 2014 after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Kent State University. She oversees all front office activities, and spends the majority of her time working in the office as our marketing and project coordinator. She also maintains our daily schedule and is more than happy to assist both our clients and staff. Kailey has loved animals ever since she was young, and currently has two dogs named Hank & Harley, and 3 horses; Beacon, Cash and Denver. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her four-legged family members, camping, and trail riding.
Annette is a full time receptionist for Hometown Veterinary Services and has been at our front desk for almost 11 years. Along with checking in pets for their appointments, she answers phones and performs many daily offices duties. She has a dog named Lizzie and a cat named Dusty. She enjoys walking, cooking, and baking as well as spending time with her husband, children, and 7 grandchildren. She is also an avid reader and always has her nose in a book.
Taylor is a part-time employee who assists with surgery check-ins, customer calls and other projects within the clinic. She designed the clinic’s website and helps with other marketing projects. She loves her miniature dachshund, Ryder.
Dawn has been working at Hometown since 2009, her responsibilities include keeping the inside and outside of our office clean and well maintained. Dawn has two cats at home, Jake and Precious, she loves all animals and truly enjoys her 3 grand dogs, Harley, Hank and Roxy!!
