Our Veterinarians

Eric D. Pugh, DVM – Dr. Pugh was born and raised in Stark County. He attended Louisville High School and then The The Ohio State University. He graduated with a B.S in Agriculture in 1993 and then enrolled in Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He met his wife, Cathy, at OSU and they founded Hometown Veterinary Services, Inc. in the fall of 1997. He has greatly enjoyed practicing in his home town the past twenty-three years. He and his wife have three daughters and a son ranging from high school to college. He enjoys his three dogs and two cats as well as caring for their horses and livestock. In his spare time Dr. Pugh enjoys attending his children’s activities/events and managing his farming operation.

James S. Dittoe, DVM – Dr. Dittoe is a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. James was a partner in a mixed animal practice in Wooster, Ohio for a number of years. Dr. Pugh served an internship under Dr. Dittoe prior to graduation from OSU while he was in Wooster. He has been serving the area as a companion animal relief veterinarian for the past number of years. Dr. Dittoe enjoys boating, water skiing, church, family and the Buckeyes! 

Alison R. Fowle, DVM – Dr. Alison graduated in 2009 from The Ohio State University and is an avid sports fan, especially anything concerning the Buckeyes or Browns. She met her boyfriend, Bogdan, at Ohio State and moved to Canton, Ohio with him after graduating from vet school. Dr. Alison shares her home with her four cats: Olive Fat Cat Bigglesworth, Eleanor Rigby (aka Fashion Cat), Big Daddy Norton (aka Steve Holt!), and Ezekiel Elliott. Dr. Alison is very excited to be apart of our Hometown Family and brings a new enthusiasm to our practice with a special interest in our feline patients.


 Our management team works behind the scenes making sure everything from customer service to animal care is quality and exceptional.

KAILEY, Office Manager – Kailey joined Hometown in the fall of 2009 part-time, and was then hired full-time as our clinic’s Office Manager in the spring of 2014 after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Kent State University. She oversees all front office activities, and spends the majority of her time working in the office as our marketing and project coordinator. She also maintains our daily schedule and is more than happy to assist both our clients and staff. Kailey has loved animals ever since she was young, and currently has two dogs named Hank & Harley, a cat named Tippy, and 3 horses; Beacon, Cash and Denver. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her four-legged family members, camping, and trail riding.

JAMIE, Clinical Manager/RVT – Jamie started at Hometown Veterinary Services back in 1999 and was here for 6 years. She re-joined the Hometown team in October 2018 as our clinical manager. Jamie grew up on a beef farm outside of Mount Eaton, Ohio and has been showing Hereford cattle since she was nine years old. She now shares this hobby with her two daughters & son. Jamie graduated from Columbus State Community College with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in 1998. Jamie is a paramedic at the Paint Township Volunteer Fire Department in Mount Eaton and graduated from Aultman Paramedic School in the fall of 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys doing volunteer work for the community, spending time with her children, and camping.

Veterinary Technicians

 Our technicians assist our veterinarians on a daily basis in exam rooms, technician appointments, and during surgery. When they are not assisting the doctors they are taking care of patients and answering phone calls and clients questions.

ERICA, Head Technician – Erica has been with Hometown Veterinary Services since 2001. She is the head technician, with duties that include assisting with surgery’s, performing dental procedures, helping the Dr.’s in appointments, running various tests like bloodwork, xrays, and cytologies as well as patient education. She’s also the one that the other technical staff come to for guidance. She has 2 dogs, Cami – a cane corse, and Wiggles- a Boston Terrier, and 3 cats- Persia, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and Chuck Norris, and a uromastyx named Debo. She lives in Louisville with her husband Chris. She enjoys running, reading, & spending time with her family.

JENNIFER, Registered Technician – Jennifer has been with Hometown Veterinary Services since February 2010. She attended Stautzenberger College for Veterinary Technology and acquired an associates degree in applied sciences. Jennifer is excellent at offering guidance and engaging in client education. She understands that our pets are fuzzy family and strives to keep that bond strong and healthy. Jennifer’s love for animals started at a young age and paved her career path. She has a large fur family herself which is comprised of three dogs, Mowgil, a Boston Terrier, two Papillions, Zander and Callee, and two kitties, Alponse and Bennie. Jennifer is a big art and yoga enthusiast. She enjoys painting and drawing with different mediums in her free time, and she is a certified 200 hour yoga instructor at a local studio.

KATIE, Registered Veterinary Technician – Katie joined the Hometown team in March of 2016. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice but is especially interested in Radiology and Ultrasonography. Katie attended Kent State and majored in veterinary technology and obtained an associates degree in applied sciences. She has been in the veterinary field since 2009. Growing up on a beef cattle farm, Katie has always had a love for animals of all sizes. She was very active in 4-H for 9 years and showed steer, dairy beef feeders, lambs, goats, hogs, horses, and several still projects. Katie now lives in Minerva with her female Pit Nora, 3 Great Pyrenees dogs, and 3 cats. She enjoys raising dairy goats and chickens and has a horse, donkey, and 2 KuneKune pigs named Tulip and George Cooney.

ABIGAIL, Veterinary Technician – Abigail has been with Hometown since April of 2016 as a veterinarian assistant. She graduated in 2018 from Kent State. In her spare time, she enjoys doing pyrography art, going to the lake, and spending time with her corgi, Dennis.

BECKY, Veterinary Technician – Becky joined the Hometown team in February 2017. She has worked in the veterinary field for 12 years and lives in Perry township. She has two children, two dogs, Mr. Crackers and Vader and a cat, Cheeto. Becky’s daughter plays travel softball and spends most of her weekends at tournaments. Becky enjoys working out and outdoor activities. She also works part-time at her local YMCA.

DEBBI, Registered Veterinary Technician – Debbi has been at Hometown since March 2017. She has been in the veterinary field for 20 years. She attended Cuyahoga Community College for her Veterinary Technician License. She has been a Registered Technician since May 2005. Debbi grew up on a dairy farm and has always had a love for animals. She also enjoyed working with harness racing horses in the past. She currently lives in Massillon with her husband, daughter, and pitbull, Skyler. She loves spending time outside exercising, boating, baking, and spending time with friends and family during her free time.

TRACI, Veterinary Technician – Traci has worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years. She joined Hometown in July of 2017. Traci enjoys camping and vacationing on the beach. She grew up in East Sparta on a farm working with horses and doing 4-H projects. She has always had a special connections with animals and working with the public.

GARI, Veterinary Technician – Gari is a certified veterinary assistant who joined the Hometown Veterinary Services team in July, 2017. She came to Hometown with over 17 years of veterinary experience. Gari enjoys interacting with clients and their special patients. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle and with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren.

TIFFANY, Veterinary Technician – Tiffany has been with Hometown since September of 2018. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2003. Tiffany has a love for animals, especially horses. She has two horses of her own, Rodeo, and Toni, as well as a donkey named Petunia. She enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her husband and two children.

KATIE, Veterinary Technician – Katie has been with Hometown since May 2019. She started working in the veterinary field in 2013. Katie enjoys spending her time with family and friends, going to concerts, and enjoying the outdoors. She is happily engaged and planning a wedding for November, 2020. Katie has 1 crazy, happy dog named Yukan.

Support Staff

Our support staff is made up of several dedicated employees who not only greet clients and answer the busy phone but they are also busy scheduling appointments, spending to emails, answering questions, and keeping the office nice and clean each day.

ANNETTE, Receptionist – Annette is a full time receptionist for Hometown Veterinary Services and has been at our front desk for almost 14 years. Along with checking in pets for their appointments, she answers phones and performs many daily offices duties. She has a dog named Lizzie and a cat named Dusty. She enjoys walking, cooking, and baking as well as spending time with her husband, children, and 7 grandchildren. She is also an avid reader.

TANYA, Receptionist – Tanya joined the Hometown Team in June 2018. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in healthcare administration and a degree in veterinary technology. You will most likely see her smiling face checking in surgeries in the morning, creating our in house flyers, and answering your phone calls throughout the day. Tanya lives in Canton with her four cats; Tunechi, Minaj, Ellie and Milo. Tanya is a big football fan, horror movie buff and enjoys going to concerts and movies.

DAWN, Night Staff – Dawn has been working at Hometown since 2009, her responsibilities include keeping the inside and outside of our clinic clean and well maintained. Dawn has two cats at home, Jake and Precious, she loves all animals and truly enjoys her 4 grand dogs, Harley, Hank, Roxy, and Remi!
